Baumer Foods Acquires 
The Figaro Company
Adds
liquid smokes, fajita marinade to condiment portfolio
New Orleans, LA (October 21,
2004) – Baumer Foods, Inc., the New Orleans-based
company best known as the maker of Crystal Hot
Sauce, has purchased The Figaro Company of Mesquite,
Texas to increase its strong footing in the $7.7-billion
condiment industry. Acquisition of the Texas company
will add Hickory Liquid Smoke, Mesquite Liquid
Smoke and Fajita Marinade to Baumer’s product
offerings.
“We’re pleased to be expanding our
product portfolio,” said Terry Hanes, Baumer
Foods Executive Vice President/COO. “This
acquisition will make us even more competitive
in the condiment industry. Incorporating the Figaro
sauces increases our product diversity while allowing
us to meet our customer’s flavor requirements.”
Already one of the most popular makers of hot
sauce, Baumer produces and distributes hot, soy,
steak, teriyaki, wing and Worcestershire sauces
as well as spicy brown and yellow mustards in
the United States and 75 countries worldwide.
The Figaro Company will continue to operate as
a division of Baumer Foods. Figaro Company partner
Dave McCormack will join the Baumer Foods team
as National Sales Manager of the Figaro division.
Hanes added that Baumer plans to build on Figaro’s
brand recognition by maintaining product labeling
and recipe components. “Customers needn’t
worry about having trouble identifying their favorite
sauces in the grocery store,” Hanes said.
